Bet You Didn't Know Geraniums Could Do This...

It took me a while to come to like geranium. The smell is decidedly floral-a friend once remarked reminded her of her grandmother (which is not necessarily a bad thing.) But as I learn more about it, I reach for it more often.

It blends well with all oils and can be used in all 3 of the ways-aromatically, topically, and internally.

AROMATIC USE

Using it is as simple as opening the bottle and smelling from it, putting a couple of drops in a diffuser, or on my wrist and smelling it.

  • Feeling agitated? Diffuse geranium to help you calm down.

  • Been cooped up inside too long, geranium will help clean and freshen the air.

  • It’s a great oil for helping you get a very solid night’s sleep.

FAVORITE BLEND TO DIFFUSE IS GERANIUM AND LIME.

TOPICAL USE

Topically geranium is one of those unsung heroes. It does so many things that it’s worth having on hand.

  • For those of us that menstruate it’s a go-to oil for soothing the parts of the body that are most effected-breasts, mood, and abdomen. (It can even support the body after labor.)

  • Mix with some face lotion to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, especially for sensitive or dry skin.

  • You can use it to support the body’s healing in case of a bruise or a cut by applying it around the affected area. (Never use oils on an open wound.)

  • It’s helpful for supporting kidney and gall bladder health. Mix up a roller bottle with a few drops of geranium and some fractionated coconut oil and roll on the areas at least twice a day.

MIX THIS IN YOUR DAILY LOTION TO SEE HOW THE TONE OF YOUR SKIN LOOKS: GERANIUM, FRANKINCENSE, AND CLARY SAGE

INTERNAL USE

NOTE ABOUT INTERNAL USE OF ESSENTIAL OILS: not all oils are of high enough quality & purity to use internally. I use a specific brand and this company stands by its oils and has researched to make sure internal use is safe with SOME of their oils. (I say SOME because you can’t eat wood no matter how pure it is.)

This is not an oil that would taste good in a glass of water. Instead, I add it to a capsule when I want to use it internally.

Geranium is great to use internally when…

  • For those who need support with their circulation, geranium is a good one to add to a daily capsule.

  • I want to support my digestive health, hormonal health, and/or my nervous system.

A GREAT DAILY BLEND WOULD BE GERANIUM, COPAIBA, AND FRANKINCENSE. PUT 20 DROPS OF ALL THREE IN A BOTTLE, DILUTE IT WITH A CARRIER OIL AND ADD A FEW DROPS TO A CAPSULE EACH DAY.
